Historic Preservation Consultant to Mantua Township Trustees, Mantua Restoration Society and Portage County, CDBG Coordinator for Section 106 Compliance required for construction of New ADA Entry & Elevator, rehabilitation of the historic Bell Tower, and roof replacement using Portage County CDBG and State Capital Appropriations funds. The 1914 Mantua Center School (NR# 13000682) is a historic property listed on the National Register of Historic Places significant under criterion A for education and criterion C as a good example of a Neoclassical Revival school building designed by Paul T. Cahill. Naylor Wellman worked with Hummel Construction to review the Scope of Work and provide guidance to ensure the work met the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, while monitoring and reporting to assure that proper documentation is submitted, reviewed and approved by the (SHPO) in compliance with Section 106 requirements.
