The National Register Nomination received a $11,462 SHPO Certified Local Government Grant.
National Register Nomination for the Berkshire Park Historic District encompassing 290 resources. The district is nominated under Criterion C: Architecture representing an excellent and cohesive collection of Craftsman, Dutch Colonial, and Tudor Revival style bungalow single family dwellings designed by the prominent Akron architecture firm of Fichter and Brooker and constructed by Akron developer-builder Nathan M. Berk. Houses within the historic district are also representative of the evolution of the small house movement beginning in the 1920s offering affordable house ownership to middle class America with representative examples extending to include Cape Cod, Minimal Traditional and Ranch styles of the Great Depression and post-World War II era with a period of significance of 1923-1970. Listing of the downtown was initiated by the City of Cuyahoga Falls to recognize the historic preservation stewardship of the neighborhood community.
